My love affair with bicycles started in the '70s. Not satisfied with what I had, I happened on Brian Baylis and Mike Howard, who were crafting "Wizard" bicycles in some nondescript industrial park in Huntington Beach. I talked to Brian and Mike, laid down my $300, and the rest is history. Now, many bikes and years later, I've ventured into buying, selling and repairing bicycles.

If Brian is considered to be one of the premier American builders, then I am probably the premier consumer of Brian's bikes. He has been building and painting frames for me since 1974. Currently, there are four Baylis bicycles in my shop, while the photo below shows a Baylis painted Holland Bicycle.

All of this is to tell you that Faliero Masi taught Brian how to assemble a steel bicycle. Brian was good enough to  show me how it is done. I've been fortunate in my cycling career to have met many men who gave of themselves freely.

And so, the tradition continues.
